should my car still run with out a alternator belt belt on if the battery still has charge in it. its a 2.0 gti

It will run BUT not for very long.

Also remember you will loose the power assisted steering as the belt also drives the PAS pump.

Think mine has taken the csm belt out when it snapped then because mine won't start

The belt might damaged the crank position sensor when it snapped.

It won't because the crank sensor looks at the flywheel on the opposite side of the engine.

well I got my car home today only had a quick look and it doesn't look like its snapped my cam belt so my guess is that its jumped a few teeth

my alternator belt snapped last week when I was on the way to work then my car just cut out and wouldn't start again
