Hi,

Picked up my first car last night, Peugeot 206 1.4litre Fever.

I love it already, but it does need a bit of work.

Here's some pictures of it, I'd love to know other peoples ideas of what they would do if it was their car so feel free to add your ideas Smile

Front badge - has some rust:

Interior:

Need to get some sill plates:

And a steering wheel cover:

And maybe a new gear knob:

Rear bumper - has a small crack:

Small scratch on the wing mirror:

It's got a couple of big scratches too, but they're not deep so I'm going to try some T-cut first:

Overall, I don't think it's too bad. There's a few minor things but nothing major. I've got a few ideas of what I'd like to do, but seen as I'm completely new to all this then it'll be a learning curve. Very Happy

I know nothing about cars, but I'm trying to learn. Just got my first car (Peugeot 206 Fever) so sorry for the stupid questions.

Stuff the steering wheel cover, go for the multiplexed sport / leather steering wheel instead, looks & feels much nicer & is OEM Cool

Might be cheaper to replace the bonnet if you can find one in the right shade of black, rather than paying to have it painted. I'd leave the interior, give it a clean but replace the steering wheel, gearknob and stick a set of mats in there. Doubt those scratches will polish out unfortunately, but as a first car I wouldn't be too bothered about exterior cosmetics until you have got some experience on the road.

Have to agree with BSI, replaced mine the other day, feels so much better to drive with now. If you replace bodywork then your paintcode should be on a sticker inside the drivers door near the lock it'll either be EXL or EXY, looks to me like EXY; same as mine.

How hard is it to get hold of a steering wheel? I'll have to look into it.

I'm hoping I can make the scratches a little less obvious, but like you say I'll most likely bump it once or twice! Wink

Paint code is EXY I think - Onyx black

I'll have to have a look for a new bumper too - any ideas of places to look, or is it just eBay and Preloved etc?

Thanks for the comments!

I've no idea - I didn't even know that was the case. I've read a thread on here about the difference, but I can't remember and I can't find it now either

EBay is pretty good for sourcing parts, check the for sale section too, a few members selling odds and sods as well as breaking cars.
If not local scrappy if you get lucky. You'll need a T50 to remove the steering wheel though.

I bought a black wing for my Merlot from a really nice guy in Trafford the other week. Let me find his Ebay link as I know he had the full car breaking and the bonnet looked alright was really cheap.

Save every penny youd spend on this, drive it into the ground and buy a GTI or 180 with the coin youd otherwise still be putting into a 1.4

Or drive the 1.4 in to the ground, save up & buy something decent & that means NOT French!
