My 206 GTI started making a clunking noise which seemed to be suspension related after refueling on Monday evening. I got out and grabbed the front left wheel and tried to move it up and down, sideways... it didn't budge.

Next day brought the GTI to my mechanic that installed my Raceland exhaust manifold. After a test drive and a look and see, he said it's my motor mounts. As he was driving the car by me to park it, I noticed when he hit the brakes the front calipers (which I installed last month off an 206 RC) rose up to about a 1030 position on the disc! He noticed my surprise and asked me what I saw... I told him and he said thats your control arm.

So last night I went and bought the 3 motor mounts and the left and right control arms... cost me 179 euro for all the parts. The control arms are made by VEMA and are specifically for the GTI... could have bought them cheaper on line but they were not specifically for the GTI plus I didn't want to wait for them. The motor mounts are Bilstien and all three were only 25 or so euro.

I set up an appointment to have everything installed 4 July.

Anyone have any idea how many hours this will take to complete the installation of the two control arms and all three motor mounts? He says no problem it will be ready the same day. He charges 30 euro an hour for the labor. Seems like a lot of work for one day..

The boxes for the motor mounts and my drop links say "FEBI/BILSTIEN"

Got the car back tonite.... It is tight again! Cost me 120€ for the labor for the three motor mounts and the L&R control arms. Tomorrow I'll get an alignment and I should be good... But

They cleared the engine light that was on.. Computer said:

Code 001 downstream intermitt
Oxygen sensor ent
Heating control fault

The light came right back on... Next project
