Could pressure sensor causes misreading of throttle body?

My 206cc had throttling problem. Peugeot planet software said my Peugeot 206 has intermittent fault on throttle body and intermittent fault on intake manifold pressure sensor. So i changed my throttle body to a used one, but after using for 1 week, i had the same problem again - intermittent fault on throttle body. I just dont believe that both throttle body could have the same problem.

So could it be that the intake manifold pressure sensor is causing this misreading?

Hi melwong, can you let us know exactly what alarm comes up on the dashboard, and also how the engine runs. Have you plugged in diagnostic to determine what fault code it displays, although the diagnostics are not always right, but it will give some indication in the right direction.
With more information we would be able to make further suggestions.

Also check for leaks. A leaking pipe will throw the readings out.

make sure your air filter is fitted right,and your oil breather is not having any cracks,if all is good,then you need to fit a new MAP,and it better be an OEM one,and also cleaning the throttle body won't do any harm Smile

Hi Navcc, the dashboard says "Anti pollution fault" and yes it's petrol. The ECU errors are "intermittent fault on motorised butterfly And intermittent fault on intake manifold pressure sensor.

Dear melwong, good job you mention "Anti pollution fault". I am 99.9% certain the cause of the problem.
I did suffer with this problem for more than 2 years, but not now.
Nobody out there are aware of the solution, not even Peugeot.

There is a very simple solution to this very dangerous problem, follow as below:
1) read the error code & delete it with the diagnostic ( you can buy this tool very cheaply)
2) disconnect battery earth, make sure all the doors are closed before disconnecting.
3) disconnect the sensor on the intake chamber( in which throttle body is fitted)
there is only one bolt holding the sensor, clean the sensor with electrical contact cleaner,
just spray it on the sensor & leave it to dry.
4) now disconnect the sensor on the throttle body.
5) take the throttle body out, it has three torx type screws.
6) now spray WD40 on & around butterfly, and wipe it clean, and let it dry.
7) now this is the most important, where the actual problem is, you need to wipe this intake chamber with
non fluffy cloth, (wrap round the cloth on a long screw driver) and gently wipe around any oil in the chamber.
Refit the throttle body make sure the seal is fitted in place, and fit back the sensor on the throttle body.
refit the sensor on the intake chamber.
refit the negative terminal on the battery.
now gently open the driver side door. (you will hear a bell as you open the door)
Job done, wait few seconds and start the car. Drive around 30 to 40mph for few miles.

Question Why gently open the door. The recommended way is to have the window down and turn the side lights on without opening the door to allow the BSI to boot up correctly

Hi macca, I am not disputing your view or anyone for that matter, a lot have been written before, do this and do that, most of them is just a myth and people are misled. What I have written is the fact, tried and tested, at the end of the day, it's up to the individual to follow up. As a matter of fact, as soon as you open the door, you hear a bell (dong sound) that's the confirmation that the ECU is reset, it doesn't make any sense to switch the lights on. I hope that explains it.

Well the cleaning of the throttle body have been covered before

and if he drive a driving by wire throttle body type,not cable one,then he needs to have PP2000,and reset the throttle body with the conditions the PP2000 set.

Navin, when u said sensor on the intake chamber, do u mean intake manifold pressure sensor? And sensor on throttle body means the electrical cable connected to the throttle body?
