Hi, my pug 206 1.1 lx has recently started completely shutting down whilst driving, the latest time was at 50 mph whilst about to slow down for a left turn. everything went electrics everything. it was as though I turned the ignition off. After numerous times trying to restart the engine i finally got the car home, had it sat on the drive on tick over which was irratic and every turn of the steering wheel seemed to slightly disturb the revs of the car up and down. Has anyone got any ideas on what it could be at all. Any help would be very gratefully appreciated.

I would say as I'm sure other members would. Get it plugged into PP2000 and have the codes read this will give you a better idea of what the problem is before you try swapping things over or pulling anything apart

Turning the steering wheel will affect the revs slightly as you're putting load onto the power steering pump.

I would start by looking at the connections on the battery making sure they are tight, and also check the earth lead to the gearbox.

I had a similar thing happen when coming off the throttle at junctions and roundabouts and it was a loose earth on the battery. New clamp sorted it out.

thanks guys, the wife is having to borrow a car to get to work and your help is very much appreciated, forgive me for asking stupid questions but a pp2000 show anything without any warning/dash lights on. I will check the earth on the gear box, cleaned and reconnected the battery cables and also resecured the battery as it was wobbling slightly, see how that goes, once again thanks guys
