Hello
I wonder if anybody can give me some advise please, we have had a 2003 206SW 1.4 petrol engine for a number of years and it has done 70,000 miles now . The cam belt and water pump were changed at 50,000 miles.
We now have a problem with the expansion bottle become severely contaminated with oil. But strangely there does not appear to be any contamination in the coolant in the radiator or in the engine, we have drained this out and it looks fine ?
The car is running well and not overheating and there is no sign of any white sludge in the oil filler cap area. The car is not loosing any water.

We have cleaned the expansion bottle out and the oil starts to reappear within 100 miles

I am assuming that this can only be a cylinder head problem but am confused by the lack of overheating and no water in the oil.

Is there any other way oil can get into the expansion bottle ?

Can oil get from the oil cooler into the water radiator - clutching at straws here !

Apologies for the long post !

I'm afraid it's most likely a head gasket leak, very common problem with these engines and you have the exact same problem I had went mine had a slight leak.
Take it to a garage and have it checked before you do start to have overheating issues

Hi
It is a manual gearbox
The car did 180 miles today and the expansion bottle is about 50% oil but it did not overheat or misbehave ?
Thanks

Headgasket failure, do it before you cant get the oil out of the system
