Bit of a before and after, very please with the results!
Car hasn't had a proper clean (polish and wax) in 4 years, so nice to see the paintwork come up so well!
Before (Pretty much all the car was like this!):
After:
Still a few small bits of tar I couldn't shift, but I've just read that WD40 is good at getting it off so will give it another go when I polish/wax again in a month or so.
Wadaya think?

Autoglym tar remover is really good and quick. Worth having a bottle on the shelf.

Its weird, the bodywork is smooth, but there are a few specs of tar left.
Cant feel them, but with tar remover and a bit of elbow grease they do dissapear.. I cant seem to get enough pressure behind a clay bar but I'm worried about damaging the paintwork if I scrub too hard!
Do clay bars come in different agressivenesses (is that a word?!). Inonly have a basic meguiars kit so may try something different next time!
The clay bar took off soooo much crud from the door lowers, was amazing!

There are different grades of bars from light, medium and heavy/aggressive types. If you're new to it stick to medium at most.
You shouldn't be apply much pressure at all to the bodywork when you're claying, the clay should be doing the work for you gliding over the paintwork occasionally snagging picking up s**t of the paintwork.
Also you should be leaving the tar remover to sit and soak for a bit too.

Yeah thats what I was doing with the clay, followed a guide which basically showed light rubbing over the paint, almost gliding... which is what I did.
Think I need a better tar remover, wd40 seems to be recommended on the web!

To remove tar spots use Autosmart - Tardis its great stuff

I see..
Nothing really wrong with WD40 I guess, just don't leave it on for long. The Autosmart stuff is bloody good though and defiantly a must have if you ask me.

WD40 will lift lacquer on painted surfaces - so be careful.
On my old Fiat Uno Turbo i.e Antiskid [ ] it stripped the lacquer off my alloys within a week LOL
