I have found the problem for poor performance, rich running, and misfiring is a problem with ECU. It has been confirmed today when the car refused to start at all and the engine management light didn't come one on the dashboard. The ECU is sending a back signal to the double relay causing every thing to stop and the car to cut out.

After some searches around, I came across several companies who seems to have my ECU type IAW 1AP.81 Magnet Marelli, all are offering 1 year warranty except ecu-testing, they offer two years. Which one would be the best choice? Prices are vary too!

www.actronics.eu/en/sh...i-iaw-1ap/

www.worldecu.com/en_US...6980E/2678

www.ecutesting.com/par...ber=1ap.81

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peu...27dfe55905

Obviously, ecu-testing is the most expensive and they offer two years warranty, any experience? Who would be the best? I'm searching for both good quality & good price.

I'm from Egypt by the way. And those are the ones that offer international postage.

Cheers.

Yes. But they don't have this ECU in stock now.

You can usually send yours to them. Or buy one and send it to them to be unlocked.

The one that failed was from ECU-testing, but it failed after 4 years! While four years may be good, but they are saying now life time warranty which is unbelievable because their units still fail! Also their prices are not reasonable.

All companies I contacted charge 35GBP for DHL shipping to Egypt and 45-50GBP for UPS. ECU-testing charge 70GBP for UPS! And 45GBP for normal shipping! Also they sell a re conditioned ECU for 195GBP and request the old unit to be sent to them as an exchange! Others (in the links above) charge 110-145GBP and don't request your old unit.

I would avoid ECU testing if I were you we have had no end of trouble with them at work. Waited 4 weeks for them to repair an ecu, got it sent back and wouldn't even communicate with anything, waited a further two weeks for them to source a replacement.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Richpowell91. I think I'm going to try ATP Electronics, their prices are quite reasonable. I hope I'm lucky. I have anyway decided not to keep the 206 anymore, and sell it after the repair is done!

Re building the current unit is a cheaper option, and I'm sure it works well. But I'm in Egypt not in UK. It would be difficult to send the unit for repair and afford the shipping charges. So getting another unit is a cheaper option for me.

qwert, second hand ECUs of that type cost around 90GBP in Egypt + the unlock. That is very close to the refurbished ones in eBay and others.

I'm really stuck between these two options, which one sound more reliable?

Would folks in UK able to advise? Smile
