Recently aquired a 2.0hdi 03 so assume it multiplexed for the partner, from the father, so know it's history etc since I've got it it's been a royal pain in the posterior, now it has a few soft faults as I call them. I'm a trained tech that has served time so I've got a good idea on electrics and mechanical stuff that I'm trained on (landrover) peugeot and french are all new to me.

So the first problem.

Poor starting when cold at -1 glow plug light flicks on then off and will start after a second key flick of glow plugs now I know hdi don't use them till -5+ etc it had new glow plugs and battery in summer. Now with a meter on the glow plugs get voltage for around 15 seconds and then off once running it has voltage for up to a minute. Now that rules out them and I've pulled them and bench tested and all is well. Now I've heard that starter motor can cause poor starting on these engines it spins over well but only faults under -1 once it's started it's fine until left over night and temp drops. not a major problem but would like a few suggestions.

Next fault is anti pollution light and eml , 2 days before I picked it up from the father he had this fault and limp mode and he had the codes erased and that was that for 3 weeks and 250 miles later. The anti pollution and eml on limp mode disconnected battery and limp mode gone but eml and anti pollution on and runs well once switched off engine runs on for 2 to 3 seconds, removed fuel pressure regulator cleaned and refitted disconnected battery and all lights gone no over run no limp and all is well. I know it won't last, know I need to get codes read this week and will update with a code.

Now I don't have a universal scanner and would like info on peugeot planet and what's needed to get up and running as I can see this peugeot living up to the French electric gremlins and false flagged dtcs.

Sorry for long post but more info is better for you and I

Many thanks
Matt

So had the codes looked at tonight and p1138 pressure regulator stop ordered but regulator still active erased fault and is has not come back

Checked pressure at idle and at 300 bar and pressure regulator at 16%
At 4000rpm it's reading between 650 to 750 bar and pressure regulator at 25%

Also p1521 clutch signal consistent with speed flagged up.

I've had the pressure regulator out and cleaned it even though nothing was visible, I'm going for a fuel filter element on the weekend and will inspect the filter housing for any swarf.

Could it be a possible high pressure pump breaking up or a dodgy/sticking fuel regulator or a partially clogged fuel filter?

Any ideas?????

Hi thanks for the reply I've seen your thread and all the others online.

How has the car been since you disconnected and reconnected the sensors?

So far mine has been behaving but hopeful over the Xmas period I will be checking all plugs and wiring, as I need the car to be reliable for the wife.
