Literally just had my head gasket replaced. It was tested and skimmed etc the job lot. Once I got it home I looked under the bonnet for the little patch of oil cambelt side and it was all nice and clean.

Now two days later the oil patch has returned, car hardly been driven and I have no idea what to think.

Anybody had a similar experience?

Sure it isn't old stuff from before just working its way down?
Clean it up if you can and keep an eye to see if it comes back.
If it persists take it back to the garage and have them fix it.

I was thinking that to be honest mate, it's just weird how it was clean when I got it back home from the Garage but now it's reappeared.

The car is driving like new since it's been done, be suprised if it's the brand new Gasket again. I don't see where the oil can come from other than the gasket in that area though.

I'll try and clean it up and see how it goes for a week or two, got three months guarantee so if it persists i'll take it back.

How much did the cam and crank seals cost buddy? Looking at the leak the oil seems clean which points that somewhere it's still leaking and i'm guessing it's the cam.

As above, a cam seal should have been done if they skimmed the head as the cam is removed when skimme

Just a update on this guys, car went back in to the garage, they could not find anything significant.

They retorque the head and resealed the rocker gasket, gave it a little run about (5 miles) and it was still clean. Unfortunately just checked today after giving it a few days and it's still leaking a small amount of oil.

Obviously it's going to have to go in again, but has anybody got any suggestions? Cam seal has been checked and is fine.

The seals themselves were penny's really but it cost me 360 all in for a clutch, cambelt kit, seals changed, new cv boots and a good service

Good price that mate.

This leak is really starting to do my head in, I fear it's getting to the point where i'm just going to have to live with it.
