The other night i was driving along everything was fine and the temperature was at its average point then all of a sudden the warning light for low coolant came on so i drove 2 miles to the nearest garage and bought some water and filled it up. had a look round for leaking water and couldn't find anything. About 10 miles later the light came back on so i got out and checked for leaks again but this time left the engine running and noticed one of the bleed screw came off and the water was pouring out of there so i put it back on and filled it back up with water and not lost any since but what would cause that to come off? do i need to bleed the system again? and since this happened i've noticed in the morning when the car is first started after idling for around 10 seconds the heater is blowing really warm air and it used to take ages for it to get slightly warm!

The 2.0 hdi engines normally suffer from the engine cover coming loose and rattling against the bleed screw cap and thus cracking the plastic housing, might be worth checking the condition of the threads. The replacement part is about £15 from the dealer for reference.

Well it's a good thing that you didn't run for a long while,or the engine will suffer from other problems,the reason that you got a really warm air is that you got the bleeding cover cracked before,that made air in to the coolant system,which caused the cold air in the heater,but when it got cracked,and broken later while driving,it made the air out of the system,replace it with a new unit,and bleed the system again,and all will be good.
