Hey guys,

I have quite a substantial oil leak from my engine bay.

I've decided it's probably from my head gasket.

How much would it be to get it fixed?

Cheers,

Jord

Depends on what engine and where you take it. By the book its about 4-5 hours, although I've witnessed one done in less than an hour Shocked

Oil leak doesn't neccessarily mean head gasket has gone, usually oil or water loss would be more the symptons you would be looking at.

If its a TU engine (1.1 1.4 1.6 8 valve engines) then they do tend to leak abit of oil and I wouldnt worry too much.

I've got a 1.4 16V. The leak is almost a stream and it's when I first start up and when I slow down. I work 8 1/2 hours a day so I can't get it to a garage until the weekend.

Can you see where the leak is coming from? You sure it isnt a rocker cover seal gone?
Have you checked the oil filler cap to see if there is any creamy residue?

Can't see where the leak is coming from, there's no creamy residue, but yeah it could be a rocker cover seal

A stream? From where?

Pricewise I wouldnt expect any change from £250 as an absolute minimum.

Ditto. My 1.1 is/was leaking from the rocker cover. Have you checked for any blue smoke coming from the exhaust?

Ive seen a stream before on an et3, and ive managed to remove a head in 30 minutes, but never back on in and running in an hour though!

If your not sure, do the camseals, and rocker gasket

I do beg to differ on the rocker cover leak...

The headgasket is the most common failure on a TU
