Hi Folks,
I have a weird problem with my sons 2006 206 (is the basic 1.1)
Horn works fine when ignition is off.....turn on the ignition or start the car and it does not work ....
Any thoughts? Its due an MOT next week so I have to solve the problem somehow

Very strange. Maybe check the wiring is well connected, you can access the wiring if you remove the grill the horn is just on the left hand side.

Odd... On a multiplexed 206 (as a 2006 year one undoubtedly is) the horn is at the end controlled/fed by a relay in the engine compartment fuse box. This in turned is controlled by electronics in the fuse box that talks over a bus with the BSI (electronics in the interior fuse box) which in turn reads the steering wheel switch.
Edit: Or maybe not, some horn wiring appears to bypass the BSI and go straight to the engine bay fusebox...
If you can get it consistently to work, as long as you've got ignition off, then the final wiring out to the horn shouldn't be the issue (though it, like the fan wiring, has a tendency to rot... )
First thing I'd try would be a BSI reset (it can sometimes get confused...) and might upset the logic in the engine bay fuse box, even if the horn switch signalling isn't actually routed over tbe bus.
Second - don't really know, sorry
Third - to get it through MOT, maybe bypass the car's electronics completely, take a constant +12V wire to a new momentary switch and from that straight to the horn (or go fancy and put a relay in between, out in the engine compartment, to prevent losses in this new longer horn feed and/or high current wires in the dash)
That's assuming the MOT doesn't require the original wheel switches to work, just that the horn can be made to work.
And if the horn is hard to get to in time, toss in a cheapie extra horn temporarily as well, along with this extra temporary wiring...
