Hi,
My airbag and general electrical knowledge isn't great, so please be patient with me...
I have a 52 plate gti that I slid into a kerb in the ice last year, and the airbag in the side of the passenger seat has deployed. I have a few questions regarding it's replacement:
1. I've found a few airbags on ebay, but there appear to be a few product codes (eg. 94597649ZR). I don't really want to take my seat apart until I have a bag to put back in it - does it have to be the same code, or does it not matter as long as the connector is the same?
2. I'm planning to get the crash data erased from my ECU to save the hassle of trying to find exactly the same one. A Google search shows lots of companies, but can anyone recommend someone reliable to do it?
3. Finally, will I need to replace the crash sensor? If so, can anyone tell me where it is?
Many thanks, I'm sorry about my ignorance, but I guess you don't know until you ask, right?!

Just replace the seat, the airbag ecu which is located in the centre console, and the side inertia sensor which is located in the sill and only controls the seat airbag for its own side, if you peel the carpet back along the sill you will see it.
Plenty of them in scrap yards to choose from.
Silly question but is the airbag light on permanently now?

Could be the seat wiring connections?
It was on mine, just fiddled with the pass one and the problem went away!

Sorry I've taken so long to reply, had a lot of problems recently and the car was the last thing on my mind!
Thanks for the suggestions, particularly about the location of the sensor - I couldn't seem to find the information anywhere!
Yes, the airbag light is on permanently. Also, I need to make sure that I get the right airbag ECU if I go down that route. I've taken the ashtray out to look at the module, which number do I need to match up to make sure I get the right one?
Thanks!

Its the long one that starts with a 9, better to take yours with you to the scrapyard and match it up since its fired and no good now anyway.
