Hi,
I had a recon rear axle fitted a few months ago. Keep on getting a strange metal 'ding' noise from the back near side. Has new shocks on the back also but noise still there. My mechanic says he does not know where it is coming from which I find a bit strange.
Seems to be enough clearance on exhaust.
Wheel cage is tight.
Any help will be most welcome.

I had the same, bent the exhaust hanger bracket down and it stopped

It's normally the anti roll bar.

I had a custom sized arb fitted but it used to make a clanging noise while going over speed bumps so I stuck the 180 back in. get 2 people with 2 hammers and bang on the arb end plates simultaneously from both sides.

Whenever I move my 206 it twangs. I'm going to do a scientific test by lifting the rear end and removing the torsion bars and dampers and seeing if it twangs when moved by hand.

Took it into a tyre, exhaust, brake, suspension place today. It's quite a well known company. They said the back axle looks fine. Not sure how well they looked at it.
Would a new torsion bar have come with my recon axle? Is a new torsion bar a big job..... clutching at straws now

Is the noise coming at a particular time like cornering, braking, bumps in the road etc or just completely random?

Its kind of bumps but not very consistant and not all the time. The mechanic I use said he can hear it but does not know where its coming from. I while after I got the recon axle we discovered a bolt was missing on that back rear side and it was replaced and it stopped for a while. Bolt is still there. Will try to upload a photo of the bolt.

5/4 was the bolt that was missing a short while after the axle was replaced. I knew something was wrong because of a new rear noise. My mechanic put a new bolt in. This is the same side as the noise.

Had this on mine once, the bolt kept coming lose, but that was before I had a new recon axle. Where was yours from?

I don't really want to name company at moment as there is a 2 year warranty and would like to give them the benefit of sorting the problem via axle exchange if it is the axle again.

We know who that is then. Another member on here recently had a problem with an axle sent to them, if it's the same company. Look for a member called project.
