Hi folks,

I'm running a Grp A airbox on my GTI 180. I'm very happy with it and don't want to go back to stock. However, there is the secondary vacuum/air pump (picture 2) left. Therefore, I removed all of the parts marked here:

And also that small hose that goes into the stock intake:

Now I'm not sure what would be the best idea to deal with air pump - remove or reconnect?
Right now it also gives me that error code, (I guess) because the air pump is not connected to the intake anymore:
"P1290
Cylinder head temp sensor Low input EW10J4S - Dual inlet. Activation of second air intake duct. Performance field"

So I thought to simply reconnect that small hose from the second picture to the group a Airbox and it should run like before? (I hope it is that simple)

Or is it better to remove the air pump completely and deactivate it via PP2000?

Thanks !

Could try deactivating it. Wouldn't cause any harm

I have left this hose attached and at the end i put on a small breather filter.. No error code or anything;)
Now i am considering removing all cuz that pump is heavy+pain in the ass when on on cold start;))
Have to find out how to fill the hole at that part no. 3 where the hose from pump is attached:)

@mattymj: As far as I know simply deactivating it will cause an error, as the pump is still connected. So you need to remove it completely. But I'm not sure on this.

@neoluz:
Have you got a picture of your construction?

Some simply put a blanking plate over the hole.

Deconnecting it will lead to an error. You have to de-activate it in BSI then you can remove it (tested, but it just gives you more pollution when engine is cold). It just blows cold air in the cat for some seconds when engine it's cold. So, if you don't plan to make a track only car and lighten it as much as possible, leve it where it is, our lounges will be grateful.

It's a custom plate Smile

But your breather is useless imo. The air/gases come out of that pipe, so the breather has no actual function.

@gpvecchi:
It's a semi track car Very Happy
The pump simply has no function atm and that error code is annoying, that's why I'm asking if it's that simple to reconnect or disable it completely without getting an error.
Did you remove the fuse, too?

If you remove the fuse you can leave the pump there or vice versa. Or both, it doesn't matter. Just be sure to disable the air pump in BSI using PP2000/Diagbox to disable the presence check.

That sounds good. Hopefully it will run without any error codes.
Thanks
