I've removed my gearbox read the code as 20dp09 from 206 180 54 plate.
I've got my 20dm78 to go on.
The gearbox mounts are complete different .
The gear link connection are completely different
.
Did my car have the wrong box on?
It's eaten it's self quite badly.
The gearbox mount looks in very poor shape.
Can anyone tel me I'd the 20dp09 is the wrong gearbox??

Well the 20dm78 box is on all lines up nice!
I'm sure Its a 307 hdi box that was fitted .. 20dp09 or a 180 box? . Why would the mount be completely different and located further back? .
The mount was located in wrong place resulting in twisting the engine forward I'm thinkng . Grinding the diff housing away and putting pressure on the drive shafts.
I've drove this car on limit & beyond . Driven like it's a rental very aggressively abused .
I'm surprised it's made it 10.000 miles with the wrong gearbox or isit, since I brought the Car.
20dp09
48mph 1st
73 mph 2nd
98mph 3rd
125-ish 4th
Maxed out at 145mph 7, 500rpm 5th
What's the original 180 box like 20dm78? I guess il find out.

Anyone help me please.
The gear selection is the wrong way around. Reverse is 2nd & 2nd is reverse .
How do I change this around?
The cable won't meet the gear selector on the box the opposite way to what it is now.
I've taken the gearstick out hoping to change that around.
Not looking good as I cannot get into the gearshift housings.
Any ideas anyone?

Gear shift was the wrong one for the 20dm78.
Peugeot obvs made two types of gearbox for The 180 maybe even 3 different gearboxes .
The gear shift on the 20dm78 sits the opposite way around to the other 20dp09.
Basically a mirror image of the old one.
The mount sits 25/30mm futher forward on the 20dm78
Strange!
All parts are in fitted & I've been destroying my tyres again; ) & drinking petrol..
Anyone with any knowledge on this subject feel free to leave comment ..
