Hi

Purchased a 2002 206 1.1 on Saturday, the previous keeper did state that the battery was on the way out and therefore put another second hand one in the boot should I have any issues. Sunday morning the car didn't want to start so switched over the batteries and the car started up first time. Drove to work this morning no problems however on the way back within a minute of driving the EML light flashed and then stayed on. The car start to misfire and stutter a little bit before getting better. There is still a slight misfire and the light is still on and wont go away. I've gave it a quick Google and can see it could be the coil pack, injectors or a whole host of other issues.

However I was wondering if the battery could be causing any issues it appears to be slightly more powerful then the last battery.

Battery taken out was a Lion 40AH EN 330 CCA

Replaced with:
Excell 50 AH 450A EB500

Thanks in advance, any advice would be appreciated.

Arron

Hi thanks for the link. Can you confirm what this will do as I did this when I changed the battery over.

Thanks

It may get rid of the EML light as there is a set procedure for these cars when disconnecting the battery. At the very least it will help you get one step closer to the source of the problem.

Thanks again for the reply. Unfortunately I am unable to do a full BSI reset as I don't have a working keyfob at the minute just a key. I have however disconnected the battery for a few minutes but the light is still on. I have also noticed that the mileage display is showing very different readings when I start it up. One minute it flashes stating no oil 0/6 and then on a different restart it states full?

Thanks

Oh and I forgot to mention I can't check with the dipstick at the minute as it has snapped, waiting for another to be delivered.

Get you're alternator checked. If this has gone it's not going to put any current back into the battery.
As you're driving the battery is being drained and even the smallest drop in current can start playing tricks with the electronics.
