Good afternoon, I have a 2003, Peugeot 206 1.4 GLX and it’s a great car with no major problems….until now. I can see there is a similar forum subject already for an ABS warning light so please excuse me if this appears to be a repeat problem although they may well be different problems completely.
For a couple of years now I have had an intermittent ABS warning light on my dashboard. It usually appears after I have driven over a speed bump. I have had the fault diagnosed at a regular ‘tyre’ place but they couldn't read the fault with the engine diagnostic reader that they had so they checked the brakes and as they couldn’t find anything wrong I have just left it as is. Now the MOT is due and so I thought I must fix this warning light once and for all. I took my car to a Peugeot main dealer and they have told me the fault is……………
Found ABS fault recirculation pump fault. Ne4ed to remove hydraulic block and split it from ECU and see if there is possible water ingress into the block. If there isn't it will need a replacement ECU (£636.00 - £500 for the new ECU and the rest is labour) or if it is the block then it will need replacement clock and ECU which will be over £1500.
Is there anything else I can try? Would an ECU bought and fitted at an independent garage be cheaper? The man at the main dealer basically said it wouldn't be worth fixing the car as the cost is more than the car is worth.
My car is a great runner and I can't believe that this ABS warning light means the end of her…..is there anything I can do - All advice greatly welcome. Many thanks

If it is the ECU just get a second hand one and then get it confiqured to the car (by this i mean the tyre size)
Make sure its the right one by matching up the model and your good to go!
Bolt off bolt on job, it will work without be confiqured to the car just the speedo wont read correctly
Will take you approx an hour to do

Oh and a second hand ECU will cost about £30 off ebay, and is held on by three T20s (these are tight! So becareful not to round them!)

Thank you Addaz for your helpful information. I am not very hands on so wouldn't be able to undertake a job like this. Would an auto electrics be the right place to start? Would an auto electrician know what to do or should I take it to a regular garage?

A regular garage should be able to do it, or just do it yourself if you have tools?
It requires no wiring, the confiquration side would require pp2000 though
