Im loosing quite a lot of oil (1litre a week) ive checked all the gaskets i can see and ive cleaned the engine to see if I can locate the leak. it seems to be coming from the lower back part of the engine and mainly on the gear box side. it doesn't appear to be coming from the cylinder head or head gasket and its deffinately not the rocker gaskets. its done 110k, im drawn to it maybe being the crankshaft seal? can anyone tell me if this is a common fault or if there is any other common issues with leaks that it might be?? thanks in advance for any advice =]

If it was crankshaft seal you should see it leaking from the bottom of the gearbox. Not a common problem, but it went on my GTi.
