rac checked the old battery :
battery ran a volt test on the alternator / battery.

car did intialy start firts turn the key after fittin the new battery this morning.
now have an issue where the car will not start untill around 30 -40 seconds and usually requires a good amount of foot on the acellorator to start it will try to turn over during this wait period.
have read on others thread about a conneciton to the gearbox earth - not yet checked this unsure where this is located - could you provide some help with this.

tryed searchin through threads and cant seem to find a fault like this. all be it the slow loading of the work pc.

Gearbox earth is UNDER the battery tray/box. It's probably easier to take the box out to get to it.
Is the new battery OK?
If you are still losing charge on a new battery, the battery is duff or you have a power drain (boot light permanently on, etc?)

Poor hot restart and requirement to allow car to cool before starting often points to crank sensor but this seems too coincidental with battery change to be anything other than battery / electrical connection.

cheers for the quick reply , have this sorted now turns out there was a short circuit , near the ignition as the pervious owner made a poor attempt at wiring an amp direct to the ignititon. cables removed and now starts like a beaut.
