Enclosed Air Intakes - better than standard cone filters?

New 206 180 owner here, had a 140 previously with a Pipercross induction kit but wasn't impressed with the results. Noise was good but that was about it!

Seeing a lot of arguments for and against induction kits, mainly because of heat soak issues in the engine bay.

Not a big fan of placing the intake pipe down near the foglight as of the increased risk of water getting sucked up - low chance, maybe, but not one I'm willing to take for a small bhp increase.

Panel filters, while the obvious choice, probably wont give much improvement, even when combined with a less restrictive pipe replacement heading into the inlet manifold.

Is something like this the best of both worlds?

I'd like a little more growl without sounding too boy racer, and I don't want to sacrifice power to get it. While money isn't really an issue, I cant really justify spending £250 on a Typhoon or similar when the above linked enclosed kit would appear to tick most boxes for a fraction of the price - especially with the water intake dangers which come with very low position intake pipes.

At least this solution appears to have a heat shield with a relatively short intake pipe which shouldnt have too many heat issues due to its intake being directly exposed to the outside air. Could you maybe even lag the intake pipe with reflective material to deflect more heat away?

Then again, the 206 airbox is regarded quite highly, so bypassing that air feed system may not actually be that smart!

Simota seem another viable option for the same reasons, but struggling to find any pricing or performance reviews.

Any experience for or against these kits, or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Confused

Link to ebay is bad, could you fix it? I'm thinking about giving some more air to the engine, too. Now, I got this stuck in my head. Would it give any pros putting a cone filter into stock filterbox? I think that would reduce heat filter gets. *sure I'd put it by 90 degrees (looking straight down)

Ideally you could even refit the original air box cover if the new intake pipe fits through the hole...
