Hey all,

Going to use this thread to watch the transformation of my cheap and stock 206cc into something a bit less stock.

The car is a 2001 (51 reg) 2.0L CC, silver without colour coding or anything at the moment. There are some broken parts, which first need replacing before anything else... so I have a nice foundation.

The theme for the car will be: Silver and black; with blue interior lights.

For now I have taken some photos... and hopefully in time we will get a cool view on the progress!

400 quid buys you this...

Needs some work too...

It wasn't me..!

Heard this was a common place for rust to... live?

Yet still quite clean I think!

Broken. And they are expensive I noticed!

Bit tatty, but has potential...

And well... driving it home I noticed some odd behaviour with my indicator. Instead of calling the Ghostbusters for my possessed indicator, I just took it apart.

The culprit... B**ch to open, I must say.

And this is next on the list, not happy with this. Rattles quite badly when it kicks in. So the fan will be replaced too.

Some phase 2 rear lights would make the car look more up to date.

I like the black side & bumper stripes better, they break up the car colour.

Red & black leather interior? thats very rare on a non plexed 206.

Is it? Cool. I want a new set of seats though, these are worn and driver side has a rip.

But loving the car!

Side strips will stay, but will be taken off and cleaned, sprayed etc... They are a bit faded.

Not sure about the bumpers yet. But the cosmetics will come a lot later to be fair... So I thought till I realised that previous lady owner kissed something. Whole front needs a rebuild! So many cracks and parts snapped... Ah well, keeps me busy.

Oh and rear lights will be be Lexus style (black).

So I did go out to the breakers on Saturday, as I learned that he may or may not have some treasure for me.

In the blistering sun, I went out to take the front of a Peugeot 206 diesel apart... and get me some bits and pieces. Once home, I could have some fun in the sun!
Result!

And so it starts.

Until I noticed this in more detail:

And also you can see that the chassis is bend. Unfortunately I cannot do anything about that, and it does make life more difficult. Luckily the steering is 100% and doesn't pull to any side and I don't hear any noises... so good to go.

Things to replace:

And this is part of the fan casing...

Absolutely shattered :/

But hey! Look at this Smile

And a bit of a teaser how the new bumper would look like...

Finally, after two trips to the breaker (I have learned of a good one near Hertford/Broxbourne; if anyone is interested)...

And look who is here now lurking in the dark Twisted Evil

So next steps:
- Changing lightbulbs to make the car road legal
- Finding a nice plug-and-play way to implement Angel Eyes (got the units, but the side light is a b*tch and need to sort the feed for the 'rings')
- Air intake (which I have none at the moment... air box is not leading to anywhere at the bottom...) is going through the fog lights

Getting there... and I am really pleased with the mesh bumper I could cheaply pick up.

Can't beat a CC in such weather! I bet you'll be running about with roof off for the next two weaks until the heatwave's finished Smile

Keep us posted on Angel Lights, my GTi had them fitted in the past, but previous keeper put it back to standard before selling off, and forgot to wire back right. So I'll use reverse procedure of your installation to get me standard crystals back to normal first Smile

It is not long till MOT (10th of September). Want to get that out of the way first, before ordering parts... For obvious financial and surprise reasons!

While my passenger headlight is shattered (not the lense, but everything else is), I first will snatch two crystals from the breakers. Just because I want to be able to have original back-ups and plug and play.

As for fitting the Angels, I am not going to cut my loom for the sidelights. I am thinking of taking a different approach where I can keep my loom original and yet have LED rings and side lights.

Oh, and money for exhaust (back of, locally custom made)... Remap and Brembo parts has already been earmarked. So after MOT, time for a shopping spree!

MOT passed.

Advisories: tires (slicks are jealous at them...) and hole in exhaust.

Now waiting to have a full stainless system fitted. Worth it Smile

Congrats on the MOT Very Happy So the oil is not consumed via plumes of white smoke? Otherwise it might ruin your new stainless Wink

Nope. All is clean as it should be. Likely to be a leak in a gasket somewhere I suspect. After all, it is a 15 years old engine. Part of it, until I rebuild the engine (got to save money first... as I expect to swap a lot of stuff to make it newer and better).

General update
- Changed fog light (now smoked/black glass)
- Fixed fan resistor (temp was rising to 105+C before fan kicked in, now starts at about 93C)
- Fixed bodywork a bit on passenger side front corner - just pulled it a bit into better shape
- Fitted the fog light air intake -not connected yet, as I want to see how the 'tape' is holding. My wife is getting a cutter as she wants to be creative. May cut some vinyl with computer precision to fit inside the lights to make it nice air and water-tight
- Fitted the GTI mesh grill a bit better -however picking up one of the last sets of clips Saturday (last set at Robins and Day in the UK so the guy said on the phone)
- Swapped stock headlights as the old units were shyte -still figuring a way to fit AngelEyes. Got a good idea how to do it!
- K&N Panel filter finally put in
- Stainless cat-back with custom back box (bit more original engine sound, as silencer is toned down...)
- Wing mirror replaced - not broken anymore obviously Smile

Soon
- Brakes - discs, fluid and pads
- Tires - All 4, ProRain 3s... Smile
- Remap
- Oil filter renewal and some oil
- A nice wash so I can think about taking a photo or two on how it currently sits Smile

----
Photos of current rear lights (special shout to Sim as I wear Lexus style at the moment Wink )and front bumper to follow. Planning to take some this weekend. But not too much changed, as mainly doing maintenance.

Oh, breakthrough in AngelEyes fitting. I am going to order these: www.amazon.co.uk/sourc...B00PZOBA28 and fit some wires to them with connectors. The opposite connectors go on the AngelEyes (the LED ring wires) and all should go well.

I also expect these connectors to fit within the small hole of the sidelights, so all should go well... All should remain "plug 'n Play" and no cutting or altering the loom.

Hopefully I can post back a result in the near future Smile

Love the fact it got 1 star for being 'utterly useless'

That headlight connector is not going to work I am afraid. So I may go and see if Peugeot can provide me with a male connector which connects with the female connector for the sidelights and create something myself.

Hopefully soon I will have it figured and can post more!

Not sitting doing nothing though. Today I got myself two road legal bright LED lights from Halfords for the number plate illumination. Simple installation and looks good.

During Essex daylight...

For Sim, the Lexus and new reg plate lights...

In the darkness from behind.

And with a certain for light too!

Next up:
- Interior lights (receiving bulbs tomorrow) - bright white. I wanted red, however that is not practical in every day use. For photo purposes I may get some red ones later on...
- New reg plates (both sides got the wrong holes in them)
- Sourcing a way to get some white 'gunk' (adhesive some sort) from behind the right plates. Previous owners used some gunk to stick the reg plates on in the past, and now I need to get rid of it. Feels rubber-y and yucky. Hopefully some brake cleaner can help me out to start off with. Or potentially a high dryer later.
- Finding a Renault Espace splitter

Hmm... Played around with a bit of wiring. Quite difficult, as I am a novice. It is not perfect yet, but it does something what it is supposed to do.

Getting there... will find a more robust solution, but!

I know some copper is showing will get that cleared and nicely taped up (well... heat shrink). Just wanted to see whether it would work or not, and it looks like it does!

The buggers to go into the original connector of the loom. They surprisingly stay very well within the connector, so that's a bonus.

But does anyone know what LED's these are? I want some brighter ones, however it feels like either ordering two tiny bright ones and rebuild this... or trying to insert a different LED light altogether? Help!

But... It works like a treat!

However only high beam worked. I thought the bulb for the dipped was gone, but it seemed like a dodgy connector. That should have been resolved now; were it not that it was too dark for me to fit them back in.

So upcoming weekend:
- New tires (rainsport 3 FTW!)
- Getting some right sized heat shrink
- Doing the crimps even better and tidier
- Sourcing better (brighter) lights
- Remove the non-legal white side-light LED's (they are for interior use only)
- Find a solution to make the rings a bit brighter

So, had my parents over and I tasked my dad to help me with the brakes. As I think that the OEM brakes are a bit... useless... I decided to bite the bullet and get myself some Brembo gear.

Just a small selection what we were going to use... However, I can recommend getting an impact driver as well (with T30). That proved itself very useful!

But first things first. As the oil filter appeared like it was installed by Fred Flintstone and co, I decided it would be time to treat the engine with a nice flush, some new oil and a new filter.

Also gives me time to show a de-badged a**e!

Back at home, I also decided it was time to make this happen:

It matches my grill lovely Very Happy

Anyways, back to the more fun part. Removing callipers, removing discs. Putting discs on, putting callipers back on... And then driving for a while with s**t brakes of course...

Just wanted to have a shot in, as I won't see this very often... I hope.

And here are the pads to be installed on the front. Same size etc, but a bit better...

New disc sits lovely... looks greasy, but that is brake cleaner of course.

And how it looks when it has been caged in by my alloy...

These things are deceptively annoying and awkward. the springs and keen to scratch the surface of the pad when you don't put them in carefully. And it looked a bit odd to me too, so I took a photo to see how to put them back together. Ohhh, thank you technological advancements to take an easy photo instead having to sketch everything in most detail!

Artistic view...

And the old muck... Ready to go to the tip next weekend Very Happy

How does it drive? First 90 miles were a bit rubbish. Now I have done about 130 miles and it is getting better and better. New discs and pads need to be bedded in nicely, so I expected this... however I did not expect the lack of braking for the first few miles!

This morning to work it seemed to be almost like the OEM products, while I know that it will only improve over the next 50-odd miles.

This is how they shone Saturday night, after I survived the first 50 miles...

That debadged behind looks well smooth pAvax!

Did you smear the back of the pads with copper (grease)?

I've bookmarked your wiring woes, and will attend as soon as I source a pair of silver angels Smile

Yeah, ta! Car starts to look like something now, but still not finished. Am looking into taking panels off in spring to get rid of rust... also longer term plans are to make it deep red with a matte red stripe over it. But first rust, dents and smoothing out plastics. No use spraying before it is 109% tight.

No, I did not grease the back of the pads. Not because I like squeaks, but because these pads are shielded from factory (thank you Brembo!).

Next thing is to sort out my click, however that might be problematic due to only half of LVD firing off. But at least I can try different light tints now, and if I were to wreck the clock completely, I know how to do the next one.

As for Angels, I need to take the lenses off, give them a good clean. The rings were not bright enough, so need to be looked into and I want to see how I can make my lights as bright as possible as they shine not too great. So with good bulbs, we should be fine.

Oh and they contain some dead bugs and an inside lens has come off. So they just need some TLC...

Oh and going to see if I can clean the bugger this weekend. Too afraid of taking photos too up close, as it has black marks everywhere.
