It had been nearly 2 years since I last saw that little light on my dashboard but on Saturday it popped up - the Engine Management Warning Light. I am booked in for my MOT Friday talk about bad timing!
I have a 1.4 Peugeot 206 glx 2003 and I have had the car since 2008. I had a new cat convertor in 2012 and again in 2014. In fact I came on here to ask if cat convertors have warranties and came across my own thread back in 2014. www.206info.co.uk/Foru...ertor.html
From reading my own thread from 2014 it is highly likely that I will need a CAT convertor again and that something just isn't right with my car. I will ask for the engine management code on Friday and take it from there. My question is what engine problems could be causing this problem and can I go back to the garage that fitter the last two CAT convertors and ask about warranties? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Are you fitting genuine cats OR ones supplied by the motor factor?
A cat should last the life of the car.

Mine was only replaced due to a rotting weld which helped with the downpipe parting company with the canister. The internals were still spotless.
OP if the CAT is failing that often, I'd be looking at a fueling problem. Raw petrol destroys the honeycomb internals.

Thank you for your replies. Genuine CATs are fitted I believe. The car is in the garage on Friday for its MOT so I will have a diagnostic done then. I don't hold out much hope for an MOT pass but you never know. The first time the engine warning light came on was 2010 and the car passed the MOT then and 2011 and needed the new CAT in 2012. My car is still only on 94,000 miles - seems sad to think this could be the end and still so young
