Hi I'm having trouble with my girlfriends car, it broke down and got recovered by the AA. When he plugged his diagnostics in it had 18 faults. He said the main problem was the ignition coil and should sort it. So I replaced that and it hasn't fixed it. I borrowed my friends basic fault code reader and it had 8 faults on there now. The car cranks but just doesn't even attempt to fire up. I check the plugs and they were dry so I assumed it's a fuel issue. The fuel lift pump doesn't seem to be working. Its not broken tho as I put 12v straight to the pump to confirm that it still works. I'm not really sure what to check now???? I can't find and relay under the ecu that I was told should be there....

If you post the fault codes up it will give people a better indication of what the problem could be.
Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition on?

I will get the codes and post them on here as soon as I can. The fuel pump doesn't prime when I turn the ignition on...

Could it be as random as a blown fuel pump fuse?

I believe the pump one is underneath the steering wheel; but am not 100% sure. When I looked at Google, I think I saw 3 or 4 different locations where the fuse could live... Including at the back of the board I believe. Bit odd!

So unfortunately unless someone can help you more specific; I am afraid you may have to do a bit of research

I cant remember if they took this away after 2001 or not but
There is a big red button by the passenger side front suspension turret in the engine bay which is an inertia fuel cut off switch. Its designed to cut off the fuel supply in the event of an accident but if you hit a bump hard enough it can also trigger it. Give it a press to see if it fixes your problem (if you have it)

2004 will be multiplexed & they don't have a user resettable fuel cut off inertia switch.
