hi, I have a 206 tdi, the problem I have is with the window washer, the rear washer works fine, the front windscreen washer does not work at all! the pump does not run when I pull stalk back and also the windscreen wipers do not operate for their usual couple of strokes, apart from that the windscreen wipers are working fine. is there 2 separate pumps? could the problem be with the stalk? if so what is the correct title of this item so that I can get one off e bay, thanks in advance for any help.

One pump, spins different ways dependent on polarity of voltage applied, sending the fluid out one of two different ports depending on rotary direction.
As the polarity changes on the wires, both wires go through switching (double throw) relays (at least on a multiplex 206, on a pre-plex this looks to be done by the switches in the stalk)
So if multiplexed, it might be a stuck relay, or missing +12 or ground to one of them. If you get +12/ground when using the rear washer (and should be getting ground/12 for the front), you might be getting 12/12 (first lines relay stuck on +12 feed) or ground /nothing (second lines relay missing the 12V supply) etc
I'd start with pulling the plug off the pump and stick a voltmeter into the plug and check whether or not you get 12V, of opposing polarity when you activate front washer compared to rear washer (likely not, unless the pump completely jams in the 'front' direction).
On a preplex the fault is likely in the stalk, or possibly in the supply wires to the switch (haven't looked too closely at what possibilities there are there)
