Hi all,
So after my major fixing spree, yet another problem has started to crop up, but it's intermittent. On occasions I'll use my G5 key fob to operate the central locking and the alarm will be set/unset but the central locking won't operate.
Unlike other issues found on the site, this seems to be unique as using the key in the door works fine.
It seems starting the car, and then stopping it again and re-trying works - but I've not tried this enough to check for 100% success rate.
Has anyone seen any behaviour like this before?

Does the factory remote locking fob operate the central locking?
Are we talking Clifford G5 alarm system?

Ah, I didn't think of trying that, so I'll give that a go later if/when it next fails. Thanks for that suggestion!
Yes, it's the Clifford G5 (the AvantGuard 5.1 version), which I may or may not remember the Operator Code for, they've long since been erased from the fob and my memory.

The valet code for your alarm is supplied on the back of the instruction manual that comes with the alarm system when new.
You can also program / adjust these via the valet button inside the car.
Good idea to remember the valet code for emergencys to shut the system down.
Many years ago I had to use mine to disarm a G4 system when the Police antennas / signals blocked the disarm command from the remote fob.

I suspect the valet codes are what got pinned to my key fobs instead of the manual, besides which I haven't seen the manual in years since before the split from the ex-wife. Should it be needed I've just got to hope the old noggin' has retained the code perfectly! I have used the valet buttons before to switch the alarm sound and maybe something else, so, perhaps I should try again sometime!

Only issue with programming with the valet button is if the back up battery starts to fail due to age in the siren it shuts the programming beeps up so you have to count carefully & use the table to pick the correct option.

I saw that on some research I was doing. There's no problem with the chirps though, it sets the alarm and the chirps sound ... so it's not the backup battery at fault here.

So it did fail again last night, and yes the standard fob worked fine. Meaning it's got to be something related to the alarm. Given the car has been off a battery for probably 6 months, something must be out of sorts.
So far today though, it's been behaving.

Well, so far it has been behaving since the last mis-behaving.
I wonder if it was either just the internal battery catching up (if it's re-chargable), or if the battery connections have been playing up?

Still hasn't occured again since, so I reckon it was just that the battery just needed to catch up having been discharged for so long..

Does it also randomly set the alarm off?
Been having a fair bit of that over the last few days, and the UltraSonics aren't connected...
