Evening all.
Basically I'm looking at sorting the underside of the 180 out. It's never been treated but isn't in bad condition.
Now I've read all sorts on the internet about various methods and products. Many pros and cons to waxoyl (worst being it traps moisture and rots from within). Essentially I'm after the paint colour finish rather than black, so either something (protection wise) that can be painted over or another method would be great.
I beleive a few of you have gone down this route (Sim, Edward?), any hints and or tips.

I stripped mine completely underneath and sprayed it with Upol Gravitex through a Shutz gun. I then went over it with silver Hammerite.

Good idea to also inject a decent cavity wax in to the doors, chassis rails, tailgate, bonnet, rear 3/4 panels & sills to protect the car from rusting from the inside - out
Have a look at the Dinitrol range of products.

Did you need to thin the Gravitex down to use with the gun?
I'd read a few things about spraying Hammerite over such protection and it not holding or the paint cracking/bubbling. I'm guessing you've had no issues with either?

I have read good things about Dinitrol. It's always reassuring to hear more before taking the plunge.

Be prepared to find little gems. Mine had the beginnings of the NSR arch rust, which I am gradually treating with Bilt Hamber Deox Gel. I’m unsure whether to key the whole arch with sandpaper, soda blast it or what else. After that I’m applying Electrox zinc primer, epoxy mastic and then maybe some Dynax UB.

The plastic wheel liners fitted in the rear arches trap loads of mud / debris against the body.
Best to remove them & clear out all the muck, before rustproofing & refitting.

One of those weak points I had was exactly what Andrew mentioned. In this day and age (which is different from when I was rustproofing things back in 2015), you could try Polycarbide Abrasive material on a dril - works wonders!
