Just a thread for my GTi for my own sake (to stop me forgetting what I need to do and have done) and for others to read if you want to Thumbs Up P.S I wouldn’t want to read my documentations if I didn’t have to.

So bought the car for £300 and saved it before too many parts got sold and prevented it from going to the scrap heap, main issues with it at the time that I knew were a failed rear axle, missing headlights (which were morrettes which I was gutted about), wrong seats put in without airbags causing the airbag light to show, missing side indicators and that was about it from memory. Oooo and by the looks of it SP arches were fitted but they must’ve been sold
Sad

Dropped by the car one Sunday to see if I could get it started, was a no go at first so I pulled the spark plugs cleaned them up, checked the coil pack connections and made sure the fuel pump was giving pressure (could hear it because the back seats were lifted but wanted to double check) tried a little bit longer with no success and that was when I realised there was no spark in it DOH!!! which I forgot to check so after checking the immobiliser ring was plugged in etc I realised the stereo cables had been cut, connected some cables back up to pass some time whilst trying to figure out why it wouldn’t spark and after I’d done that I gave it another crank in pure hope at this point and it started first time, having never had a Peugeot before I’m guessing the immobiliser system passes through the stereo cables.
Granted she was running rough but it had been sat for the best part of 2 years so it was expected.

Moved it out of its resting place to put some pressure in the tyres and to quickly wash the moss off it and it’s a pretty solid and clean car with little to no rust, only a bubble or two on the boot beneath the rear windscreen on the boot and the rest of the paint should clean up good with a mop.

Not a lot happened after that besides me finding out the fan was missing after noticing the temp gauge kept climbing and climbing so I turned the blowers on full blast to keep it cool, just wanted to make sure no error codes popped up. Battery was knackered so I pinched a decent one off another car that was destined for scrap (the best thing about it was the battery Laughing ) bolted the seats down and took it over to mine to rest until work starts, but... I mean cmon a projects never this easy is it, both rear brake pipes popped on me just before loading it onto the trailer, by the plastic clips which were an advisory on it 6 years ago, here we go it’s a good job the rear ends coming off for replacement anyway.

Started pricing bits up for it, want to give the engine a nice service new filters, oil get it running sweet and sort out the one fault that popped up (P1153 - Bank 2 Fuel Control Shifted Lean. MM6LP - Throttle stop learning. Malfunction. If anyone else can put their 2 pence in on that code it would be appreciated, going to clean the throttle and make sure there’s no leaks in the intake hoses and vacuums then start checking sensors) and once I’ve got it running nice I’ll be moving onto the rear axle and exterior bits like the headlights and wing mirrors for it.

Also got PP2000 on the to do list, got the software with thanks to a forum member (much appreciated) just need a laptop with XP and the lexia cables.

Should be ordering some resistors to see if I can get the airbag light to disappear, if not I’ll just pull/cover the bulb as a temporary fix for the MOT

If the airbag light doesn't come on, it's a fail. And i' think it's an led so can't be pulled (or soldered to dash circuitboard). I think I read 3.3 ohms somewhere but try the search option on here.

If you have a laptop you might be able to build a "virtual macine" and install vm ... there's an oracle product that's free and you can download an xp image from M$oft themselves ...

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Oh is it ? From what I read and gathered it’s only passed and advised due to some cars only illuminating the light when there is an issue, I’ll have a word with the tester next door to me in work as he knows I’ll get round to it eventually, ah I’m glad you said that because the figures I got were between 2 & 2.4 ohms from the very little information I can find on them. Can’t find anyone willing enough to stick a multimeter in their seats to read it for me though Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Don’t worry I won’t hold you to it but after a search around 3.3 seems to be the ohms used for most diagnostics for airbags across the 206, 306 & 207 so it seems like a good bet. For as long as the lights on the systems disabled anyway, I’d have to really mess up and get the ecu to send the deployment signal out wouldn’t I ? Confused

Oh and also regarding your previous info on virtual box etc, I did try it but the laptop I’m using for cars is pretty much full with different manuals and spec sheets for a few of my different toys so it struggles anything that requires a bit of power. I did try it out though to begin with.

Got a little more done today after running out of wire when welding up the jimny Rolling Eyes (was on a roll until the feed just stopped lol)

So I wasn’t planning on touching the pug until parts arrived and I had a few things to do in one go but seeing as I couldn’t get parts today I thought I’d fix the butchered stereo cables that I mentioned before, pulled the dash apart to give me more working space. Connected all of the wires back up but my drivers side stereo speaker wires seem to be completely missing Laughing I haven’t had a deep look so might’ve lost them down in the dash somewhere but couldn’t find them with a quick feel around (I opened the cable tidy thing up to shorten it down so it may have fallen away from the rest of the cables or still be in there)

Would anyone happen to know where I can get a plug for the hazard/locking switch aswell ? Those wires seem to have been butchered aswell and I don’t want to hard wire them in to the switch terminals just in case but the plug is missing Confused

And also I managed to get some half decent photos so you can see the car if any of you are interested, it’s not quite in the state it was when I bought it and looks pretty good but there’s plenty to do Very Happy

P.S - the focus is NOT mine Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Had another quick visit to the car today, resistors fitted (it is 3.3 ohm for the seats just in case anyone else needs to know for any reason) airbag lights now off and systems working again (got the Mrs to solder them in whilst I was welding some more bits for the jimny, quite funny to listen to seeing as she hasn’t soldered in ages Cool ) . Wing mirrors fitted and plugged in, side indicators replaced with new lenses and that’s about it really, still need a window/wing mirror switch, a plug for the hazards, headlights, a rear axle and tyres all round along with new brake lines and she should be good for the MOT Wink

Ooo and I’ve also found a photo of the car from when I first found it/saw it

Shocked

Lovely load of moss and dirt all over it, no headlights, no upper grille, no bonnet vent, Interior completely loose, knackered electrics, stiff fuel filler cap, mouldy interior and the list goes on. Glad I got to it when I did and got a steal on it Wink

Got a few more little bits done today.
Headlight fitted, front bumper & upper grille on properly, rear wipers now removed but the blanking plate I bought was the wrong size Mad so I’ll have to order another the correct size this time though.
After a little while of the EML light being off it’s now decided to appear again along with the anti-pollution fault message so I’ll be checking the ecu connections for water ingress as it has been quite wet recently (same code as before P1153 if I remember right but I’ll have to double check) but hopefully it might just be a bit of water, has anyone else had the issue ? Any input would be good if anyone can help Very Happy

Still no Peugeot planet sorted as it turns out I’m being made redundant on the 11th of December but I have got another job lined up and should be signed for on Monday, onwards and upwards to better things !

Few pictures again, should have the wing mirrors sprayed to match soon once everything else has been sorted.

Anddd the Jimmy’s front end is nearly done so just the back end and I’ll be able to focus on just the GTi ! Smile
