Here’s my gti 180, kind of saved it from being broken as I picked it up at a local car auction for £800 with no mot looking a bit sorry for itself. Despite its appearance it drove ok and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it got down the road.

First thing was to get rid of the rear Lexus style lights as one of them had a broken lens, I went for stock face lift units. Not sure if they were part of the sp kit as the car has the rest of the kit. Also changed the exhaust for a used scorpion cat back as the car is way too loud with the dragon racing system that was on the car. I gave it a good bath and checked all levels before driving it again before I take it in to work to put on a ramp to properly see what I’ve gotten myself in to.

Then I decided to ditch the interior and stick it on the scales, the weight is with 20 litres of fuel.

Decided to go for a sparco race seat on side mounts on custom brackets, a schroth 6 point harness and a sparco steering wheel.

As I got the car with only a couple of old mots and no real service history the next step was a full service including a cam belt and water pump change as well as deleting the air con and secondary air pump.

Nice to see another track car out there, I would consider dropping wheel size and weight out of the wiring harness too as there is fair few KG in the harness!

I bet standard headlights would weigh less too...less expensive if you break them too!

Very nice work so far, good choice of mods. I’m impressed with that weight, hopefully mines around the same. If you do decide to swap the headlights out I would buy the morettes off you.
