Wonder how much difference the color made. If that was blue I'd have gone to 15 and kept it in storage. |
Hi mate, yeah all's good except for the 207 lol.
You are right, it is the same engine in the mini cooper, mine I've been told that the Stem valve seals need replacing but been told it's not an urgent job.
Think that's why my brother has decided to buy 3, 2 of them in red and one in agean blue, 2 of them both low mileage. Prices are going up, seen 2 on ebay over £5k and saw a video on youtube of a garage mapping a 206 Gti 180 and were surprised at what it was and the fact that they are rarely seen on the roads now.

Sorry mate I have been so0 frustrated with the Halfords situation. Hope you got your 207 sorted?
I noticed on eBay the prices are rising, I tend to filter the listings by sold and completed items to see what they're actually going for.
I picked my car up yesterday 06-10-22!
Long and short of it - Always stick to your gut. It will not only get you fed but stop you making huge mistakes like using Halfords.
The tappy noise has been put down to the hydraulic lifters - one in particular. They recommend I drive the car for a few hundred miles, and it should stop of greatly improve.
It starts off ticky and does improve after cold start however doesn't completely stop. They have said they cannot get the hydraulic lifters anywhere. Peugeot have stopped making them and no other aftermarket parts available bar uprated versions for upgrading cams.
I really hope the ticking stops as they say. They refunded me more money on the work because I kept complaining on how long they had the car and how it now sounds. They tried to do me over on fuel (which was agreed to shut me up) on day of collection they weren't aware they had to do it and the man with the fuel can was out - that old chestnut.
Performance wise - I warmed it up and gave it a quick pull with some BP ultimate and it doesn't seem to have lost any zest however the ticking is annoying.
Fingers crossed it will be fine.
I might add that should it stop ticking I may have some little plans.
General tidy up
- Change roof plastic gutter rails they look too sun-bleached to save
- Rear side window round bungs? need to be changed
- Boot lid handle has lacquer peel from sitting in the sun
- I want to change the silver SP grilles for either black Zunsports or stock items - always been on my mind since I got the black masked valeos.
- Good thorough clean and if necessary, a going over with the g220 if that still exists in my shed lol!
- Change the cheapo shizer Vmaxx coilovers and rear shocks to either a better brand combo like the tested Eibach & Bilstein setup or go for stock spec. The ride is very harsh I'm slowing down for the tiniest change in road surface in fear it will all shake apart around me lol!

Good to hear you got the car back mate and do hope they are right with that tapping noise.
Have had the issue with my 207 diagnosed and it's the stem valve seals, they need replacing but because a lot of parts need to come off inc timing chain that needs to be re-done so Pug1Off have quoted around £2.5k to get done.
Good choice on the black zunsport grilles, but good luck trying to source them as I believe they are discontinued, I know when Luke Saunders sold his 206 I bought his grilles but removed the bumper grille, but don't think I have it still, I think my brother has the vent and upper black grilles from zunpsport
