why did you not just get that faster one straight out the box? i cant remember if you can get a factory turbo charged or supercharged? |
Ha, don't ask the question if you don't know if one was out there.
But to answer your query, I don't think there was a supercharged VX produced. I may be wrong, but I thought this project would make Sebs car quicker than any factory/standard VX. |
There was a turbo one. I have absolutely no idea how it's performance figures would compare to Seb's though. But the N/A is cheaper to insure and cheaper to buy, so I guess that may have been why he got it in the first place?

Turbo is about 195bhp standard. This should be around 260 when it's properly mapped. You get a quicker car if you buy N/A and supercharge. And for a couple grand less as the tubbys cost upwards of 11 grand! Mine was a very good deal at 7600.
It's been running today just got a few things I need to sort out though! The ride is buffered at the moment so I need to sort that out. Got a little chargecooler leak under the inlet that I need to tighten up.
Should be good after that!

Driven it about 70 miles so far. Just got to fix the leak later on today as I'm topping up every 45 minutes but it's only the chargecooler system so not as urgent really.
Also need to get a new fuse as the headlights have borked
Will get the rest of the pics up when I can and will take a vid.

Good work my man! Does it feel massively different? Or will it only be complete once you've had it mapped?

The difference is insane, only thing letting it down is the suspension at the moment. It's way too low and feels like it's riding on the stops at the moment, so will have to see how we go with that... Needs to adjust it soon.
The leak seems to have almost stopped on its own... which is slightly bizarre!
I haven't even put my foot down in 1st or 2nd properly yet, but 3rd upwards is mad the speed it pulls away.
