I was at Sounds of Silence in Grangemouth (usually Falkirk but they're at a temporary unit) today doing a favour for a guy on the 309 forum who's car was in no fit state to be moved but he wanted to get on with his project so he asked me if i'd go along to there so he can get an exhaust made up.

This gave me a good chance to inspect the current condition of the car. There are a few rust spots occuring again but nothing major to be worrying about as it has covered another 7000 miles since this was all done. I quite fancy Degreasing it, rubbing under the boot floor down a bit with even something like 240 grit sand paper and giving it another coat of paint. I just wish i had proper ramps/post lift! Laughing

I had a look underneath in the engine bay and the sub-frame isn't even rusty either! Super duper...

It was braw and dry today so i got cracking with the rear badges. Before with black badges: I hired in some help for the day. Meet Geri the polisher! After: And I clayed the rear boot panel whilst getting rid of the sticky stuff off the paint from the old badges and it came up rather well...Geri did a good job Sowted maaaaate.

Thanks lads Geri only did the vertical bit of the boot. She had to take a break to lick her own a**e and kill a vole and then take a nap after her hard days work. Buy FYI she is £1800 + VAT per panel. I will clay the rest of the car at a later date. It'll be gutting doing the passenger side though. I might get a quote from a dent master!

With the goodwood away, it's left me twiddling my thumbs in the evenings during the week!

Last week a few sets of roof trim arrived and managed to make a great set from the two of them, however one of them had some silver overspray on it!!! X( Not chuffed anyway, i realised i was going to have to sand it off, so whilst i was getting nowhere with the hair dryer as shown below (you really do need a proper heat gun for that trick i think! Very Happy

) i decided to take matters into my own hands.

Before:

I decided that whilst lightly sanding the paint off i might as well do the whole piece, so i did all 3 which i spent around an hour on! It's amazing how time flies when you're having fun eh =)) :-B When i was finished i cleaned the pieces with Autoglym vinyl and rubber care, as it's runny but still sticky it lifts a lot of particles which is good! It also leaves a slight sheen but it's not really great for outdoor protection. My next product of choice was Meguairs gold class trim detailer (No longer in production but it's awesome!) to go over the finish that the vinyl and rubber care. So the final result was as below. It's still slightly damp with product in these pictures but they'll turn out to be a lovely deep grey colour when the product dries itself off a bit!

They're now ready to go on after a year or so of roof trim neglect! :))

You fitted it twice? Will look a lot better now, would have though you would have whipped the sunroof rails off and painted them though!

Looking good Bri! Is the sun roof standard fit? It looks a strange composite of a standard car sunroof and a panoramic like seen on the 206.


	I wonder why I bother with this place, 4 years and all members do is slag each other off. Even Barry Boys seems a nicer place at times...

If you're talking about the rails underneath, I will defo be doing that at some point. When though i'm not sure as i'll need to have my lock-up for that job and some time Smile

Perhaps the end of the summer or something.

As for the bits that holds the glass in (shown faded gray above) well...that looks like a cahoont of a job. So that might just get masked up and done on the spot. Same with the slightly rusty rails tbh. Although I'll remove the screws to save faffing about masking them up...and probably masked up badly lol.
