Probably flogging it next month so put it in for big old service, I asked them to look at the groaning/grinding coming from upfront, and my (let me think) 5th Antipollution fault popped up the other day so Ive asked them to look at it.

So the guy calls......prices with the labour

Strut top mount and kit - £99.87
Strut top mount and kit - £99.87
(yup, both shot - lots of labour!)
New ball joint (complete arm) - £78.00
(excessive play)
Track rod end + tracking - £64.00
(Funked)
New Pirelli Zero Nero - £110
(unrepairable screw in wall)

Oh yeah the 84k service - £140

And its not been on the diagnostics yet Very Happy

Put that together with the £300 I spent last month on the last set of problems - I feel sick. Vodka time.

Hey at least whoever fancies buying it next month knows they are getting a lot of new stuff Very Happy

that seems dear
200 quid to change the top mounts. if he was replacing the arm and the trackrod then most of it would of been off anyway.

I was thinking the top mounts were a bit expensive.

I was waiting for the comments on the prices Smile
From what the guy said, its a lot of labour doing them. Dropping the lot and compressing springs etc.

Those prices are fitted, but I expected the parts would be cheaper on the bay of e, but I just havent got the time to do it this way. Then finding a garage that will fit major components which they havent supplied. An exhaust or something yes they will, but I doubt steering and bits like that.
I wouldnt do it if I was a mech.

With the ball ache of not being home for deliveries and general dicking about trying to get it all fitted, it would be false economy. It doesnt 'feel' like they are taking the p1ss, and I just dont have the luxury of time or ability to do it myself.

Cheers for the links though. I just wish the missus would get home with that vodka!

i see what your saying if you need it done you need it done. but the labour cost of this is massive
340 to do the top 4
which would take a garage around 2-3 hours tops
parts are about 100 and no they wont be using any different parts to eurocarpart.co.uk
tracking will take about 30 mins and garages usally charage around 30 ish.
so 200 pound for 2-3 hours work is alot. if thier taking more than 2-3 hours they dont really no what thier doing

but glad your getting your car sorted im fitting all my new parts tomorrow.

Its a Croxdale www.citroennortheast.c...tep1.html. Ive lost faith with my local garage as they didnt tighten the cover bolts up fully when they changed the cambelt and also I asked them recently to look at this same problem and they said they couldnt see anything. They would have been cheaper for sure. The Pug dealer would have been dearer.

I would have got my mate to look at it in plymouth but I wanted the service and problems sorted before a 400 mile drive and im only there for the weekend.

What new parts you fitting Ruffy?

yeah i understand you bud its a hard game dad owns a garage you see and if you need your car done you need it done

im fitting new wishbones,topmounts taking my coilovers out and cleaning them probly take the helper spring out and new droplinks arb bushes and a cv boot as i put a hole in it the other day oopps.

Believe it or not, its the new tyre thats miffing me just feels like kicking me when im down. Frikkin screws.
I remember when I first got the car in 2002, I drove to plymouth and when I got there had to get a new tyre for the same reason.
Now we are soon to part company and its happened again!

Just hope the anti pollution isnt anything too bad.

I rekon both our cars will feel like brand new when we get them sorted.

I've just had both top mounts done, both lower arms, cv joint and a wheel bearing ,rear caliper cleaned up/seals etc plus an oil and filter change and that cost £300.........they must have good eyesight......saw you coming a mile off
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

bummer mate. hope the car feels good after coming out the garage.

and anti pollution could be anything lol its good old pug telling you something is wrong but god no's what.

top mounts should be bout £40 retail, my mate got me his through work at trade rate and was just over £30

price for lower arm is too cheap,garage must be using the nastiest pattern parts available.both sides ideally should be done and tracked.but i suppose your getting rid of it soon,not a great advert for it though.as for service do it yourself it isn't rocket science.
