As it says really, found out yesterday that my backbox has rusted through along the seem and needs replacing.

Tried ECP and they only seem to sell the downpipes and linkpipes. Only other options I can find are either generic "fart boxes" or Janspeed, Peco et al. Otherwise, it's off to my local garage (which TBH isnt that big a deal as know he'll do me alright).

Lastly, I've has a small problem lately where I've had problems with a lack of power when first pulling away; would this be even parially responsible for this?

Cheers for looking and for any contrbutions you can make! Very Happy

Scorpion?

Best bet is to search on the forums, backboxes have been covered a few times Smile

I'll go Google Scorpion for starters then. I've searched both the web and on here but you get bogged down by thousands of results, nearly all of them are performance related; bit pointless for my 1.4 8v that's 7 years old!

Basically I use it for the daily commute and am after a good "standard" back box that I know will fit and be in keeping with the car. Any others?

Well if your just wanting one to keep the car going. Bosal are good for standard exhausts, they even do ones with shiny ends Surprised for around £50

If not Scorpion and Janspeed do pretty good non chav-fest backboxes. Janspeed do a cat back system though neither are cheap at £200 roughly for just the back boxes. Crying or Very sad

I wonder why I bother with this place, 4 years and all members do is slag each other off. Even Barry Boys seems a nicer place at times...

Hi Geoff,

Interestingly enough, just remembered those and searched for them (there's a place in Gateshead with their sign up next to the road). Found this one here whihc I assume is the one you refer to.

Seems ideal to be honest, and this way I get the fun of fitting it myself which will be a first! Shocked

I personally opted for Ashley when I decided I needed a new backbox a few years ago.

They have a really nice deep tone to them, or at least the 4" does and they have a stainless exit pipe.
I think now though they are a bit more than the £90 I paid for them.

After a while they do 'rust up' a bit, but mine still seems to be holding together nicely. I was looking at price more than anything, which is why went for these as they seemed like an all-round good deal.
