Yeah the coilovers make a huge difference. Really tempted to lower the front on the goodwood BUT it wouldn't be a standard car then lol.
Yeah the fiat 500 is my mums. very smooth to drive but i hate being that high up, too a funny driving position for me!

The 309GTi16 has an uprated rear beam (thicker torsion and anti-roll bars, maybe different stub pins too for a change in rear geometry). Front ARB is also thicker.
309s tend to not gain as much interest as the 205. It was the 205 that saved Peugeot from extinction in the early 80's, and with the Pininfarina styling, will always attract the public eye more so than the 309. Unfortunate, as the 309 has the better chassis out of the 2.
309s tend to rust, as well as early and late model 205s. E/F/G 205s don't for some reason. My G 1990 has nothing on it whatsoever. 309s were built in Blighty too, probably why they rot. Common area is the inner front wings, behind the headlights.
Try 205GTiDrivers forum, loads of knowledge (I believe there is a 309 section).

Alan, no offense intended here but i'm very aware of all of what you have stated Good for others to note though. Like the 205's, the phase 1 309's are less prone to rust because the materials used were of much higher quality. Other common places for rusting are on the inner sills at the rear and behind the fuel tank (i can only presume this is a similar case for the 205 on the later models?)
Sometimes the front arches suffer badly too Luckily...neither of my 309's are rusty...hence why i have them. I'm on 309oc and been on 205 gti drivers since 2007 i think I'm rarely on it though since all the info i need is on 309oc, but if i need technical info i go on 309oc, luckily i haven't needed much technical info so far

Thanks Dave and G! Tiz true about the small things making the big difference sometime. Even a good polish and back to black (gray in this case! ) has made a big difference to the bumpers. I also went around the black trims, rubber, mirrors etc with some megs rubber n plastic care cream. Which i think will last ages!
It's only wee things the now but progress is progress as G said up there ^^ I think the next thing on the list is to give the same treatment to the sunroof tracks as they have a little rust on them now since the sunroof trim has been missing for a while. I'll be able to do this in a month or so's time as the lock-up will be free...hint hint...the goodwood is going away on it's holidays 8)
The rear wiper blade isn't on yet because there's a slight imperfection on it which will annoy me. You can hardly see it but i'll know it's there and if i'm gonna do something i might as well do it right first time round eh
