Hi all,
Well as title says,I wonder why lots of 206 owners, and members of this forum are selling thier 206,and replace it with another car, some of them with a french made like 207 or clio, and other replace it for Japanese or German cars,so what is wrong in this pictuer??,I asked a dear friend of mine who sold his car few days ago,and he said that the french cars build quality isn't great and they aren't very reliable,so he had to move on,and buy another car.
So what is wrong with 206??it's really full of problems and not reliable,or it's just ppl like to change,so as a 206 owner, and a member of this great forum,I would like to share what you think or believe about this, and it would be great for who replaced his 206 with non french car ,specially peugeot,to tell us why he/she made this step.
Thank you all for sharing in advance
Tim

Mine is getting old and not really fit for the amount of mileage I do.
Its also getting expensive to fix - so it will be traded in and I shall get something new. Probably won't be another Peugeot.

people grow up and need different things...hatches are easier to insure and generally cheaper to run than larger cars, with bigger engines.. so as people get older they can afford a quicker car or need a larger car for family etc..

I sold mine primarily because of a whining diff, BUT i also wanted a change as the 206 was costing me a fair bit of money to keep running. It did about 300 miles per week and was on 80000 miles so it wasnt staying for long either way! I also got fed up with something always needing to be fixed/repaired on it.It never broke down but always had something that needed doing (usually bottom arms every 6 months!)
Also i never really liked the crap french build quality of it either, its was about as comfy as an old shed in the winter. It looked nice but thats where the love stopped between us really

I recently sold my gti 138 because the mileage was getting high and I wouldn't have got much money for it, but I absolutely loved it, I loved it so much I bought a 180 so I had more power nicer interior and low miles. I had my 138 for 3 and a half years and that's roughly how long I'll keep my new one for. I don't think the peugeots have loads of problems at all and would recommend a 206 to anyone buying a car. My 138 cost me about 100 quid for a new ball joint in the time I had it. Who can moan at that?

I took my 206 off road to use as a Track car and bought a C2!
As the C2 wasnt too expensive, virtually brand new 59, with 7k miles! It has pretty decent power and good mpg for what i use it for, which is about twice a week to play Cricket.
Finally got rid of the 206 as its old ('98) and tbh s**t for what i want really with not alot of potential without getting a mortgage, so will be moving onto something bigger and better with about 300bhp, 4wd and a mans car tbh
