ok im off to see a gti one night this week. wat are the areas to take that little bit of extra time looking at? i know the beam is usually one thing to take a good look at but were are the most commom rust spots on the 206?? are they prone to rust or bend in any particular place? any other advice would be a big help engine and gearbox wise especialy, im sorry if this has been asked before but i cant make much sense of the search feature on this site, cheers marc

inside the arches check behind the liners, sometimes creeps from the side sills, to be honest 206 are ok for rust generally all mine have been over 10 years and no rust ive had 3 lol,

check for slipping in the clutch and is it hard to get reverse

Exhausts rot, rear trailing arm bearings can fail, gearbox synchros can wear out, make sure it idles properly from hot and cold, exhaust manifolds can rattle, heater fans can fail (seem to be doing this regularly)...
