reality check please: 180's can be bought for £2000. They fetch more money because they were made from 2003, whereas a GTi 137 was made from 1999.
2003 GTi's can be bought for £1200+, so the extra £800 for a 180 is worth it (engine, interior, brakes, wheels, trim).
Obviously all values depend on condition and mileage.

pffft insurance is a breeze mate i insured my for a lot when i was 18 but when i was 19 it went down to £1500 some may consider a lot but it really isent lol..... 180 for the win

My 180 averages about 33 mpg right now, not bad at all IMO.

The driving position isn't great for long journeys to be honest, and the build quality still leaves plenty to be desired. I did find the gearbox to be better than the 138, although still not great. But how many French gearbox's are...?

But anyway whoever started this, do you want to modify your car performance wise, or do you want to keep it standard?

Also, do you have to get another 206? I doubt I'll be getting another.

What I don't get is camp 138 saying buy a 138 and mod so you have same power as 180 but less to insure. So I take it there's alot of illegally modded 138's out there who haven't told insurers that there cars are modded? Because modding plays havoc with insurance so surely your better off paying the premium for a 180 anyway?!

If I'm so het up on BHP? I was merely commenting that it's not as simple as:

Buy 138
Mod for more power
Now I am similar to/faster than 180 for less.

It doesn't work like that. Simply because the insurance rapes you for power mods so those wanting to save money insuring a 180 have completely defeated the object!

No matter what's done to a 138 it will always be the poor relation of the 180. After all, how many 138 replica 180's are there out there?

clearly the people with the attitude you refer to, are driving around on fraudulent insurance.

All well and good till someone hits their car, completely not their fault AT ALL.. But the insurance refuse to pay out..
