Hi,
I have a 2002, 2.0L 206cc. It has just had cam belt, water pump and tensioners changed. Prior to this the car was perfect but now the car revs really slowly from idle when stationary! Strangely the car still pulls like a train and doesn't misfire at all. It idles perfectly but as I say when you rev it is slow to react. Another fault which wasn't there before is a buzzing/stroke rattle when accelerating? The garage has had it back and checked: Emmisions - fine, lamda sensor- fine, fault codes on computer- none found. Cat removed and checked - fine.
Any ideas or suggestions please?
Thanks

possibly been put back together a tooth out on the timing? does it sound rough? im thinking its gotta be something to either do with the timing or something else that they disturbed.

the rattle noise could be pre detonation within the cylinder due to the timing being slightly out?

do the revs drop at the regular speed?

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

No, the car doesn't sound rough at all. I made the garage take the belt off and re do it. They re did it and he assurred me that the timing was spot on. I suppose it would run awful if it was out but it doesn't, it runs ok.
There doesn't appear to be any pinking at all so im wondering if the noice is due to loose pipes in the manifold? If it is, that wouldn't cause the lazy revving I don't think..
Its a strange one!
