Hi guys
my 2000 1.6 16v glx was acting a bit funny with the wet weather and was cutting out a bit then jerking back into life while driving. seemed to be under load and only happened about three times in one day. then all was as normal following and weather had dried up a bit. Now however thinking i was in the clear the car started initially but then cut out and would not fire up when turning over. i managed to bump start it and away it went and drove fine the whole time but next day started from cold and did run for about five mins but then cut out while driving, bumped again and off i went . now though wont even start with a bump. i took off the electrical leads and had a look at the coil pack and plugs. lay them on the head alongside the wee earth strap on the coil pack and cranked over but got no spark from any of the four plugs. have noticed a few posts saying they would not spark anyway if fuel was not getting in. can anyone please please help!!!

Not a test you should repeat on a modern car, your lucky if you haven't damaged the ecu by trying that test Wink

why the earth attaches onto the base of the sparks anyway and the middle of the plug attaches to the coil pack so surely i should have just seen a spark???? and what may be wrong?
