hey have got new ones of these to put on my gti as someone on here the other day said that was what the knocking would be how easy it to change them over? is it just wheel off unbolt old and put on new do i need to grease them or anything or it there anything else that i need to do

It's not that easy. The old ones are sometimes best being cut off as they tend to corrode. Some copper grease on the threads might make them easier to remove in future.

Never really had problems with these, easy job IMO, have done it lots of times.

In the process of changing mine right now..

I can't for the life of me undo the nut holding it onto the anti roll bar, if i was to cut the drop link off, surely i still wouldn't be able to undo this nut?

Any prompt help would be amazing, before i go and hire a grinder..

You have to basically grind the nut. Wink Not the actual drop-link.

It is not un-common to have them rusted on.

Or use molegrips to hold the ball joint/bolt, while you undo the nut.

Ahh I didn't even think of grinding off the nut!

I'll have a go with mole grips to get it off first.

when i took my old ones off i noticed it was just spinning but u need a torx key to go in the end of the bolt to hold it still but i didnt notice this till after i grined off the nut. i think it is easiest to grind it off and the just hammer it through.

Well for some reason mine weren't torx, and I didn't have the right attachment to get the right thing in.

That's exactly what I plan to do tomorrow, 7am rise and shine.

I managed to get the nut to the end of the thread on the bolt before the hex entry on the drop link got chewed. So I got the drill out and drilled the end and the nut fell off.

Here's a tip for you when you jack one side up made sure the opposide side is also same height otherwise the whole process of removing and fitting of them will be more difficult as the car will apply weight to the links

Yeah that's a good idea.

Well my drive is flat, and it's sat on axle stands both sides so the front of the car is evenly distributed.
