206 gti 138,2000 model..centre plug, pins L and M 4 has been heating up.its burnt the plug causing the pins to be loose...now a month back whilst out driving the car died on a big bass beat from my subs...mmm.
symptoms were all dash light went off, wipers slow, lights dim,rev counter up and down, spins over fast but wont start...also when pushing fob to lock doors the central locking didnt work right and inds didnt flash...
i striped the ECU to find both l and m pins were burnt and broken inside, also burn marks on pcb....after a soldier back together all was good for about 2 weeks then whilst winding up my window it did it again..ive resolderd and bypassed the plug in case there was a bad contact...once again it was ok for a while but its now done it again...i know soldering it isnt fixing the problem.i need to know the cause.....ANY IDEAS GUYS...
ps i bought an ecu a few months back for 99p.on striping this one there were also burn marks on the sae pins....a common fault perhaps??

Check the main earth cable from the battery.

Follow it down to the gearbox, it likes to snap there Wink

It should then loop of to the inner wing

Give both connections a good tug, they can look fine but fall apart as soon as there touched.

Well i guess you have a short circuit in your harness somewhere, you check it from the ECU back to the car,and make sure there is no striped wire or contact between 2 wires.
