I've just taken my 3" sportex off (bringing the car to the mainland in a couple of weeks and want the best MPG on the motorway as I can get...) and the once shiny end bit is now dull and crappy.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips on the best way to keep it looking nice and shiny?

Cheers, Mike

Give it a wipe down and use Autosol metal polish on it (about 3 quid from halfords and lasts for years).
It should be ok on stainless exhausts but double check first.

Autosol is perfect for stainless. A backbox will make no difference to mpg.

also give it a polish before using the autosol with 4000 grit paper. I use abraclean which is perfect.

You were probably driving it harder when having an exhaust to listen to.

This is true. Wouldn't bother taking it off, just ease off that right pedal a bit Very Happy

A sports back box will affect the fuel economy of a car.

Cheers guys, I'll give it a go Smile
