Hi all, my pug has developed a revs fault.
when the revs are dropping they drop down normally (at a normal speed) untill they hit just above 2k. then they take a looong (3 seconds ish) time to drop from 2k to idle.
this happens both in gear and in neutral. also when then engine is hot and cold.
It makes it annoying to drive as its hard to match the revs when changing gear.
throught maybe it could be an air leak, but dont really know where to start looking.
the EML is not on. any help would be appreciated

What engine is it?
What year of 206?
These simple details about the car in question that a lot of people don't bother posting up actually help us work out the best advice to give to solve the problem.

Take the stepper motor out / idle control valve out, clean the plunger & also the air bypass hole the plunger fit in to ( use a cotton bud )
Normally 2 x torx 20 screws hold the stepper motor in, don't loose the O ring seal on the end & DON'T try & unscrew the plunger from the motor!

not too sure what the stepper motor is or does tbh.
what would be best to clean them with?

Stepper motor helps control the idle speed of the engine.
WD40, some paper towel & some cotton bud that you clean your ears with are all you really need to clean the plunger & the air bypass hole.

Follow the throttle cable to where it links on to the throttle spindle / butterfly.
Look on the opposite side of where that linkage is & you should see the stepper motor.
Number 4 is what you are looking for.

thanks for the advice. i will have a go. anyone else got any ideas of what it could be if its not this ?
im a little unsure as it doesnt struggle once idleing. i.e the revs take a while to go down to idle but once they are at idle they run consistantly at the correct revs, every time. no stalling. no high idle etc. they just take longer to reach idle.

I have got this same problem,the car has been stood up for a months and now it does this,can any one with a pic show me where this as MRbsi's pic isn't there.
