IIRC, the connectors are at the passenger footwell, check to see none have been accidently pulled out or that. Failing that, its out my knowledge.

Are they under the carpet or behind the glove box?

the connector by footwell is only if brake lights are stuck on all time ,yeah its behind glovebox
if you look under passenger footwell you l see it common for them to get knocked come loose.
you checked bulbs /fuse?

Check the earthing too. Its behind the carpet, in the boot, bellow the boot light.

Being the picky sort - I really hate it when people say this. Yes we all know what it looks like - but we all want to see the condition that yours is in!

All the rear lamps share a common earth, so if the earth was loose on the chassis then none of them would work.

Test to make sure there is +12v going thru the positive feed when the brakes are applied, if there is then there is a fault with the connector or the cluster itself. If there isn't, then there is a broken wire from the switch to the lamp somewhere.

Just been stopped by the police for a similar problem. Take the light clusters out, remove the lamps (bulbs grow in the garden) and clean the contacts up, then bend them round a bit so when you put the lamp back in it makes a decent connection.
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!
