I have 1.4 petrol 206 which the temperature gauge doesn't move above 80 is this normal ?? I am trying to get to the bottom of why it uses so much petrol it does 24 mpg.
Look forward to your replies to this matter.

My 1.6 runs at 80 deg and does 34 mpg
My gf's 1.4 runs hotter and does about 28mpg

1.4 runs JUST under 90 most of the time, was doing 24mpg with a huge exhaust, now ive got a standard one i can get 34mpg if im careful!

1.6 runs around 80-90 fan kicks in at 100+. And I never do my mpg.

My 1.4 runs at 80ish degrees and I get 40mpg in the summer and bout 37mpg through winter. I still get 35mpg even when driven hard

As above although I only once got it above 90 which went together with lots of warning lights. MPG is currently under lots of tests....

my 1.4 runs At 80ish and get 232 miles out bottom half of tank, Too lazy to work the mpg out from that lol

Mine is 1.4 Quicksilver. Normally it on 90 and i make least 250 miles for 30 pound fuel

Thankyou for all your replies I am so disappointed with the car it looks and drives fine but i really thought i would get more mpg than this from it i really can't drive it any more careful than i'm doing sure i could walk faster at times !!! lol
I'm going to get it into the garage some point this week to see if they can find anything wrong with it but it has already been on snap-on tester and its showing no faults at all

my old 1.4 was 80-90 depending on weather
and could do around 500-600 miles on a full tank (depending on type of road and driving style)

why not try driving it a little quicker everywhere and see whats happening then, might still get 28mpg put of it, at least then you won't be bored! .... i get 30mpg outta gti but i do rev quite high
