Hey,
Been a while since I've been on here (So long that my old account was deleted!) but i'm having a problem..and hoping someone can help.
My car is a 54 plate plex'd 206 (makes it a mark II right?)
Basically my headlights have stopped working when dipped - both sides. They work fine in full beam, sidelights, indicators, reversing, brakes..all OK. It's just dipped headlights that don't work.
I've tried changing both the bulbs, and i've checked the fuses..but still no joy. I think it would be odd for both bulbs/fuses to blow at the same time anyway.
So from a bit of research it could be the relay/switch that controls them which has gone, but now i'm having trouble working out where the relay is for the dipped lights - even my haynes manual isn't much help here sadly 
So a few questions - do you know where the relay is for the dipped headlights? (please don't say its hardwired to the BSI..that would be bad news ), and is it user replaceable?
Could it/is it likely to be anything else? What else can I check?

Sounds like a relay, maybe a fuse? If there on seperate fuses,

Fuses F9 and F10, unlikely to blow 2 at once though.
I think relays are on the same fuse box? (Under bonnet)
Does the dipped come on with full beam?

No they don't - just realised that there are actually 2 bulbs in my headlights (more difficult than I though to work out exactly what type I have!) and embarrassingly I may have changed the wrong ones heh.
I presume i've changes the full beam bulbs..which worked before anyway so other than now having brighter bulbs, that's not going to rule out the dipped bulbs going anyway doh!
Are the dipped bulbs exactly the same as the full beam ones? My haines manual seems to tell me that they are, but the ones currently installed look different..white at the end. I'll have a proper look first thing in the morning, and take them out to check.driving me mad heh. I have a couple of spare H7s now (the ones that I took out of what I now think are the full beam holes) so I could try those and see if they work..

The dipped beam H7 bulb has a cap over it that is part of the headlamp reflector
Also make sure you fit the bulbs the correct way up, pay attention to the cutouts!
Main beam H7 bulb is the one nearest to the badge in the middle of the grill & without any caps over them
Dipped beam bulbs are the outer H7 bulb & they are covered with a cap.

brilliant, thanks for the clarification.
Now to hope that those 2 bulbs have gone when I check in the morning..I do need to have some work done at a garage at some point (airbag warning light on constantly, suspected com2000 issue) but rather not have to do that for a month or two, financial reasons etc.

Be warned that at the moment as the airbag warning light is on none of the airbags or front seatbelt pretensioners will fire in the event of an accident.

mmm the reason I have not had that fixed yet is that the PUG dealership told me that it was just the passenger airbag that wouldn't fire (came up in a recent service, and I've not had someone sit in that seat since)..but if it's likely to be both driver + passenger side that will fail..then I may have to get that sorted sooner rather than later.
Kind of hi-jacking my own thread now - but if it is the com2000 that's at fault here is that something I can get my local garage to do rather than the PUG dealer? As it will likely be cheaper than the £250+labour they want to do the job.

Is it the passenger airbag warning light that is on OR the main airbag warning light?
You sure the passenger airbag hasnt been disabled / set to off by the keyswitch on the dash?

Yes it's the passenger airbag warning light (left side of the dash, yellow light) - get the beeps when starting the engine and then it stays on solid yellow after that.
I've got no side airbags and i've tried following this list as best I can (posted by lee originally), although i'm going to double check the connections again tomorrow. Airbag definitely has not been disabled with the keyswitch.
Check your battery voltage
Check the alternator isn't under or over charging
Check the wires under the front seats [if you have side airbags]
Check the orange wire in the drivers fuse box is connected
Check the wire on the rear of the drivers airbag
Check the seat belt pretentioners
Check the connections to the airbag ECU under the ashtray carpet
Check the wire to the passengers airbag
Check the COM2000 connection [if your mux]
Try rebooting the BSI. Click the link in my sig for the guide on how to do it for your specific electrical system.

If its the passenger airbag warning light on by itself it ain't gonna be the com2000 unit plus the rest of the system should function ok
Could be a faulty airbag key switch, you can get another down the scrapyard as any key fits them
Id check the connector plugs on the back of the key switch & also the passenger airbag, maybe loose or a dirty connection.
Make sure you shut the BSI down correctly before you disconnect the battery.
Take it you don't have a larger 3 line MFD that displays messages?
Mine will beep 3 times & show PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATED if I switch it off with the key switch & the yellow warning light will be on all the time.
Id be tempted to try another key switch.

Sadly I don't have the larger MFD so no on screen messages for me. I'll have a look at the keyswitch then - I guess one quick way to test this would be to actually de-activate the passenger airbag properly (with the key) and see if it makes any difference or not..hadn't suspected that part of the car to be honest.
Very good news if it's not likely to be the com2000 unit though, i'm learning not to trust all that the pug dealer says  Will make sure to properly follow the shutdown instructions for the BSI too, fairly straightforward to do I think.
Will see how I get on tomorrow..thanks :=)

Larger 3 line screen is simple plug & play as long as you haven't got a factory fit cd changer.

OK bit of an updated
First the lights - Got them sorted now and all working..i had replaced the wrong ones urgh, silly thing but at least it's sorted, thats the huge plus
Airbag light..well now its daylight and ive got my lunch hour to play, I'll confirm something.
It's NOT the passenger light, I turned that off via the keyswitch and a different light showed on the dash, so this must be the drivers one. Something else the pug garage got completely wrong in their report!
A garage nextdoor to work is going to give me a fault reading tomorrow to try and confirm the issue (if that would help? If it won't i'd appreciate a comment).
Anythings else that I can easily check myself before going back to blaming the Comm2000?

Until you have the airbag fault codes read your stuck.
See what codes they come back with & go from there, its just pure guess work otherwise.
