Had the shock of my life earlier as my dash started making a nasty noise while I was driving along the ring road.

I have established the fault must be the blower motor for the hot/cold air inside the car cabin. I think this is the problem as when I turn the fan to '0' there is no noise and it gets louder as I turn the fan on ('1') and then up to settings 2 and 3. It works on all settings so I dont think its the resistor?!

The noise itself is like a whirring noise, it sounds like a fan spinning round but with something in it if that makes sense.

So, my problem is......

1.) Is this common?
2.) How do I get the motor out?
3.) Is it possible to clean it out or does it sound like its buggered?

Thanks in advance.

Sorted, there was a leaf in the blower motor. Only took 30 minutes too.
