Since getting the suspension overhauled last year everytime i turn the wheel it creaks, I only hear it when stationary but i reckon it's doing it all the time.
I presume this is the top mounts (which are new) that probably weren't greased very well when installed. Does that sound about right?
If it is, whats the 'how to' on greasing them up?
And if i'm talking complete crap, what do you reckon the problem is?

This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Probably dry bearings in the topmounts, if they were cheap topmounts they've probably bit the dust tbh and need completly replacing, I never had to grease my topmounts when I installed them and they aint creaking..

Are the springs definatly seated correctly and not moving at-all as that could cause a creaking noise too..

Ah could be springs, they were done after the top mounts (well about 2 days after) and i dont have much faith in the garage that did them. How do i check that?

did the topmounts have bearings fitted? if no bearings were fitted the metal rubbing on the rubber can creak or clunk.

I presume they had them in. It was a decent guy that did the work. It's done bout 3000 miles since, couple of trackdays etc etc so i think it would have deteriorated if there was no bearing at all in there (and play).

Yes, no doubt it will end up scrapped, but isnt that why everyone buys a 206? something cheap, fun and then throw it away without spending much on it and buy something else.

yes agreed Fords fall into that category as well. Vauxhall, too. pretty much anything thats cheap really. Suppose thats why it's cheap, no one wants little crappy cars when they are old. All the more for me to use on the track. So long as no one goes spending a fortune on one eh!

I always used red grease when changing front struts, and the garage would charge for it even if I didn't. Was something we were taught at college and still do it now. As a rule, I put it anywhere that metal touched rubber. Not done it on a 206 yet so can't say how easy it will be, but you will need to take the top mount off.

If there is no point spending a fortune on a car, whats the point in modifying or even having a car in the first place

Yes it may still be a cheap car, but no other sod will have the same will they? Wink

And if that spending a fortune crack was aimed at me/my ice, it can be removed and increases the cars value to every penny you spend Wink

Wondered what that gear was called, cheers mate much appreciated. I will get them looked at and greased. It's not loud or anything just not a noise you particulary want coming from the suspension!
